Paris Saint-Germain has refuted Kylian Mbappe’s statements over his future, stating that the team will try to sell the striker rather than take the chance of losing him as a free agency in 2019.
Mbappe’s PSG contract will end in 12 months because he will not sign the one-year contract extension. Mirror Football is aware that the French team is ready to cash in on the superstar this summer because they want to make sure he doesn’t depart without a transfer fee.
According to people close to PSG, the team has been in contact with the legendary striker to discuss an extension. The player’s choice to forego the option to extend his contract by one year, which the club further asserted they were unaware of,
which is currently set to expire in 2024.
A statement has now been released on behalf of Mbappe which claims that he had already indicated to the club a year ago his intention not to stay at the Parc des Princes beyond the end of the 2023-24 campaign while adding that no contract talks had been initiated.
“The management of the club in charge of his extension, which was signed a year ago, was informed as of July 15, 2022 of the player’s decision (not to go beyond 2024) and the letter had the sole objective to confirm what had already been clarified verbally beforehand,” a statement on behalf of the player said.
“Kylian Mbappe and his entourage say they have never discussed this point again with the club during the year, except 15 days ago to announce the sending of the letter. Furthermore, no possible new extension has been discussed.”
