Mark Allen believes snooker ‘players hold the power’ over sport’s survival
In response to criticism directed towards the World Snooker Tour, Mark Allen has stated that “players ultimately hold the power” over the sport’s future.
But snooker is a “long way away” from reaching its peak, according to Allen, who takes on John Higgins in the Champion of Champions semi-final on Saturday.
When asked if changes ought to be player-led, Allen responded, “I think so.”
In the end, I believe the power lies with the players. I believe that changes are necessary because the game cannot survive without the best players.
“I believe that the sport is still a long way from reaching its full potential. I would be happy to have a quiet discussion about it with the individuals who make those decisions when we sit down.” Hopefully we can sit down and amicably come to a good settlement.” During the previous season, the 37-year-old won the World Grand Prix, the UK Championship, and the Northern Ireland Open.
He was named the 2022–2023 World Snooker Tour Player of the Year due to his achievements on the table.
To cap off an incredible year, Allen will try to defend his UK Championship title in York later this month.
