Transfer Talk: All the latest Osimhen news in bite-sized chunks
The future of Victor Osimhen was a hot topic of discussion during the summer transfer window.
With 26 goals and strong all-around play, the Nigerian striker had an incredible 2022–23 campaign at Napoli, leading the Partenopei to their first Serie A championship since 1990.
The 24-year-old is still highly sought after, with several Saudi Pro League and Premier League teams vying for his signature in January.
Victor Osimhen was a guest on John Obi Mikel’s podcast and discussed the “crazy” offer made for him by Al-Hilal in the summer transfer window.
He said: “When the offer came from Saudi Arabia, a huge offer, it was hard to refuse. I spoke to Napoli and decided to stay.
“It was crazy, the more I said no, the more they increased the financial offer. It would have changed my life, they never gave up. But I said, no guys, I’m staying.”
November 3: Barca bound?
Barcelona have included Victor Osimhen on their list of candidates to replace Robert Lewandowski.
The Nigerian forward is thought to be a premium option available to the LaLiga champions but they must first free up the funds to satisfy Napoli’s valuation.
Lewandowski, 35, scored 23 times in the league last season but will eventually be phased out as Barca look for a suitable heir to the No9 shirt.
Instead of joining the Saudi Pro League, Victor Osimhen has indicated he would rather move to Major League Soccer.
He said, “If I had the same conditions, I would go to MLS,” in a Twitch interview with Emiliano Viviano and former Italy attacker Mario Balotelli.
It’s fantastic that they are working to grow the Saudi Pro League. However, I’m content at Napoli.”

20 October: Laurentiis’s hints
Following remarks made by Aurelio De Laurentiis, the president of Napoli, prospective buyers for Victor Osimhen will now be extremely cautious.
“I have never been unhappy with Osimhen,” the 74-year-old stated. But in these matters, there are always two persons. If his attitude has changed, I haven’t changed.
