Victory also means that the 34-year-old joins an exclusive club of five players to have won three successive ranking tournaments. The last player to achieve this feat was Ding Junhui a decade ago.

Stretching his incredible winning streak to 20 matches, Trump didn’t have it all his own way in Belfast and needed to show grit throughout the competition to stay in contention.
