and, for the first time, a magnificent cast of characters. With his career coming to a conclusion, the snooker star found himself on the cusp of a career-defining competition to win the snooker World Championship for a record seventh time.
Amazon Prime Video has launched a new documentary about top snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan’s life and career. The feature-length film Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Edge of Everything follows the world number one as he battles personal obstacles and the pressures of success.
The film will have a one-night-only live premiere before hitting Prime Video later this month. It comes from David Beckham’s production business Studio 99 and follows its smash Netflix documentary about the former England captain’s life and career.
In 2021, O’Sullivan made the unprecedented choice to grant complete access to his personal life for the first time, at a time when he was beginning to ponder a world beyond snooker.
With the cameras rolling, Ronnie was drawn back into the shadowy world of competition, which he was eager to leave behind. The film, directed by famed Maradona ’86 director Sam Blair, reveals how one of the most revered and talented British sports heroes is able to function at the greatest level despite battling his inner demons.
The film focuses on comprehending the snooker legend’s genius, illuminating his origins through never-before-seen archive family footage, charting his ascent to stardom from his early teens and the mental hurdles he has surmounted in his pursuit of excellence. It includes exclusive interviews with O’Sullivan and some of his closest family, friends, and competitors, including Damien Hirst, Ronnie Wood from The Rolling Stones, and snooker legends Jimmy White and Stephen Hendry.

“My highs and lows have been well-documented by the media,” O’Sullivan told Prime Video, “but I felt like now was the right time to do something more definitive – something that I can look back and reflect on as I contemplate retirement.” “I wasn’t sure I had it in me going into my seventh World Championship, but allowing the cameras in ended up driving me on in many ways and giving me a different perspective.”
On November 21, the feature documentary will be released exclusively in theaters across the UK, with a live Q&A with O’Sullivan, Beckham (who serves as executive producer), and others. On November 23, it will be available exclusively on Amazon’s Prime Video.
