Latest Nottingham Forest news as r’Steve Coopes Reds prepare to face Aston Villa in Premier League on Sunday
Nottingham Forest duo Danilo and Callum Hudson-Odoi appear to have provided encouraging updates on their injury situations.
Reds head coach Steve Cooper has been without a number of players in recent weeks. His options at the top end of the pitch have been particularly limited, although striker Taiwo Awoniyi’s return from off the bench at Liverpool last weekend provided a big boost.
Prior to the game at Anfield, Cooper said midfielder Danilo had been back in part-training as he stepped up his recovery from a hamstring problem. He was not fit enough to be involved in the 3-0 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s team and has not featured since the victory over Chelsea at the start of September.
But in a positive sign he could soon be available again, ahead of Sunday’s clash with Aston Villa the Brazilian posted pictures of himself in training on Instagram. He included a caption which translated as: “WE BACK, THANK GOD.”
Cooper had said of Danilo, full-back Nuno Tavares – who was an unused substitute against Liverpool – and centre-back Felipe last week: “They are back in part-training, not full training. Danilo has been out for what feels like a long while, so we’ve really got to be careful with integrating him back in.
“They joined in with a couple of warm-ups and a couple of non-contact exercises. Hopefully that’s the next step to their recovery.”
Hudson-Odoi, meanwhile, suffered a hamstring injury in the build-up to Forest’s 2-2 draw with Luton Town. He is expected to be sidelined for about six weeks.
The winger also posted some pictures on Instagram which showed him on the grass. With a tearful emoji, he wrote: “Missing it. Soon be back!”
