When Mohamed Salah was just starting out at Chelsea, John Terry said he never imagined he would go on to achieve what he has.
After his success at Liverpool, the Egyptian winger will be remembered as one of the greatest players in Premier League history.
However, Salah’s time in England wasn’t without its challenges. Having begun his career at Chelsea, he struggled to establish a permanent place in the squad.
After being turned down by the Blues, the 31-year-old relocated to Roma, where he made an impression before joining Liverpool again in English football.
Since then, Salah has been nothing short of extraordinary, and Terry acknowledged regretting not paying more attention to both him and Kevin De Bruyne in an interview with the Obi One podcast.
“Definitely not; not a chance. Terry responded, “It’s my one disappointment as captain,” when asked if he thought the two players would succeed in TBR Football.
“Over the years, I became softer, but while those guys were there, I was a very strong and disciplined member of the group.
They most likely needed a shoulder to cry on, a place to sit, some conversation, and perhaps some assistance from me to get settled.
“I regret it and I’m disappointed in myself as a captain. I wouldn’t have predicted that they would have reached the heights they did.
