Since Serhou Guirassy’s release clause is still in effect in January, Newcastle United will have the opportunity to sign him for a very low cost during that window.
According to Sky Germany, the Bundesliga’s top scorer is free to leave Stuttgart in January if a suitor wants to sign him.
With 14 goals in just eight games this season, Guirassy has blazed ahead of players like Harry Kane and Victor Boniface.
His future has been the subject of constant speculation, with multiple reports indicating that he has a €20 million release clause in his current contract that will activate the following summer.
The German side was concerned about that because they are aware that it is a bit of a bargain been trying to get him to sign a new contract with an improved clause because they know he’s a bit of a bargain and were concerned that he might leave them for nothing.
It seems, though, there is a pressing need for that as Sky Germany now reveal that Guirassy has another exit clause for the January transfer window.
According to them the striker can leave Stuttgart in the winter for ‘less than €20m’, thus a bit cheaper than in the summer. That’s a price which represents ‘an absolute bargain’ given his current performances.
That should be interesting to his growing list of suitors, including Newcastle, who have been linked with a potential move since August this year.
Indeed, the player even opened the door to a potential move by admitting he’d be open to a transfer if it was offered to him.
Whether Newcastle remain keen, particularly with Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson continuing to score goals, is up for debate but the possibility is there to get a player for ‘an absolute bargain’ price.
