Today, Simon Phillips provides an exclusive update on our striker situation on his Substack, primarily focusing on our two top targets up front: the fantastic Victor Osimhen and the realistic Ivan Toney.
However, it comes with a strong warning that Toney might still choose to go to Arsenal, so we’ll have to scroll down the list.
Phillips provides updates on several other options that are being considered. We’ve been watching Youssouda Moukoko “for a long time,” but she doesn’t quite fit the profile we’re after. It’s obvious that we’re giving greater priority to number 9.
That means Benjamin Sesko is a good shout, and Phillips says his source says we continue to scout him this season.
Our efforts to sign Dusan Vlahovic have clearly taken a back seat since the summer, and that’s backed up here. Jonathan David is also on the list, but “not close to the top of it.”
As for Tammy Abraham – he’s not really being considered now.
So it seems like even if Toney and Osimhen are off the menu, we could be in for an interesting January.
