The latest Nottingham Forest news as the summer signing has opened up about his relationship with Steve Cooper and why he decided to join the club
After moving to the City Ground, Murillo received a message from Steve Cooper, the manager of Nottingham Forest.
In the summer, the center-back who had spent just one season with the first team left Corinthians in Brazil. For his first three Premier League games, he was completely left out of the Forest matchday squad; however, against Brentford, he was a pleasant surprise to see in the starting lineup.
The defender was selected for the following weekend’s match against Crystal Palace after playing a strong game in the 1-1 draw. He not only kept a clean sheet for the first time in the game, but he also came dangerously close to scoring the team’s first goal.

Murillo is expected to be named in the line-up for Saturday’s clash against Luton Town at the City Ground, as Premier League football returns. Following his debut vs Brentford, Cooper said that they will continue to work with the defender, and Murillo has praised how he has been handled by the Forest boss so far, revealing the message that he has been sent.
“There is a relationship of trust between me and the club and me and the manager as well,” Murillo told Sky Sports. “He has always made me feel at ease.
“He has talked to me a lot ever since I arrived. He is an excellent manager and I’m really happy to be working with him.
“In terms of how he wants me to play, what he has said to me is that he wants me to do what I was doing for Corinthians in Brazil. He wants me to put that same quality on the pitch.
“So, that’s to do with the quality of my passing, playing long balls and penetrative passes. Obviously, as a centre-back, your most important characteristic is marking, but he’s also looking to my passing ability.”
