Last night, Matt Turner played for the USA once more, and the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper has received high praise. Ghana was soundly crushed 4-0 by the Stars and Stripes, led by Chris Hughton’s team.
The USA national team never really needed to shift out of first gear as they were thoroughly defeated. The squad was four goals ahead at the half thanks to goals from Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, and Giovanni Reyna.
During the summer transfer window, Turner joined Forest. The goalkeeper, who came from Arsenal for almost £7 million, was a constant in Steve Cooper’s squad for the 2023–2024 season.
Turner shines in the global triumph
Turner was called upon in a few instances even though the USA won handily. Just before the half, he produced a fantastic stop, and Goal has been all over him.
“An absolutely spectacular save just before the break as Turner showed an insane change of direction to get to a deflected shot,” the review stated,
Turner represented his nation by playing the entire ninety minutes once more. He is currently unquestionably the best, and he intends to stay that way in the future while leading the USA.
Turner feels more confident now that Forest has a chance.
Turner’s transfer to Forest has obviously paid off. He demonstrated last night’s performance for the USA as an alert and concentrated goalie, showing that he still has room to grow.
Turner is aware that he must continue to perform well for his nation. At the club level, Forest currently has two international goalkeepers, with Odysseas Vlachodimos poised to take advantage if Steve Cooper gives him the chance.
But for the time being, Turner owns the gloves. With a performance like the one he had last night, he appears to have the support of the head coach and will undoubtedly maintain his spot on the squad.
