The latest Nottingham Forest news as the full-back was taken off after just half an hour during Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Peru
Gonzalo Montiel, a full-back, is a possible injury concern for Nottingham Forest ahead of their Premier League matchup with Luton Town this weekend.
The 26-year-old joined the Argentina team two weeks ago, joining a host of players who had been on international service. He did not play in Friday night’s 1-0 victory over Paraguay.
However, the Forest player got his chance to shine on Tuesday night when he was included in the starting lineup for Peru’s World Cup qualifying match. Argentina won 2-0 thanks to goals from Lionel Messi, but Montiel only played for slightly more than 30 minutes.

The 30-minute mark saw the Forest player begin to motion to the bench, suggesting that he had sustained an injury, according to the Argentine publication La Pagina Millionaria. A few minutes later, he was replaced, and it was reported that he was in pain as he departed the field.
Steve Cooper and his players, who return to action this weekend at the City Ground against newly-promoted Luton Town, will be concerned about the update. Since joining the team in the summer, Montiel has made four appearances. Against Crystal Palace, he came on as a half-time substitute for the injured Serge Aurier.
Ola Aina’s fitness is also in doubt, thus Neco Williams is the only healthy option for Forest’s match against Luton, which might leave them without up to three right backs. The Welshman last participated in a game, starting at left defender, in August’s 1-0 Carabao Cup loss to Burnley.
Williams is currently gone for Wales’ international assignment. The 22-year-old engaged in 90 minutes of play.
