Danilo, a Brazilian midfielder who joins Nottingham Forest on a six-and-a-half-year deal from Palmeiras, says he is “really happy” to be living out his ambition of playing in the Premier League: “I’m really happy to be fulfilling my dream of playing in the Premier League.”
Midfielder Danilo has been officially signed by Nottingham Forest from Palmeiras.
The Brazilian has signed to a rumoured £18 million six-and-a-half-year contract at the City Ground
As the 11-time winners won the Campeonato Paulista and Brazilian Série A title in 2022, the 21-year-old made 141 appearances for Palmeiras and was nominated to the Team of the Year
Danilo expressed his happiness at realizing his dream of playing for Nottingham Forest and the Premier League.
“I discovered a little bit about the club’s past and discovered they had won two European Cups. Gustavo Scarpa, who I also spoke with, told me that Nottingham is a wonderful place and that Forest has a top-notch team with excellent employees.
“I will play with a lot of grit and a great desire to win, and I’ll constantly try to give it my all on the field to get good outcomes. I’m eager to get going and get to know my teammates.
Filippo Giraldi, the club’s sporting director, continued, “We are thrilled to welcome Danilo to our team and to our city.
“He is a fantastic talent that will be a great asset for the present and the future of Nottingham Forest.”
Danilo will be joining a Forest team that has won three straight league games, vaulting them out of the relegation zone and up to 13th place overall.
Cooper: Willing to offer advice on transfers
The manager of Nottingham Forest, Steve Cooper, has stated that he and Giraldi, who was hired in October 2022, are collaborating closely to make the “right decisions” for the team.
“We always try and have a collaborative approach in everything we do,” he stated. “I just care about the future and what comes after. We have a chance to strengthen the team in January, but we also have a ton of games left to play.
“I get along well with Filippo at the workplace. In terms of attempting to choose the best course of action for the club going ahead, that’s a good place to start. I’m at ease with how things are going. I’m excited to take part [in the club’s player recruitment].”
