In order to regain his spot in the first team, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has said that he must accept his current status at Tottenham and take what he can from it. Following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as head coach, the Dane’s minutes have dried up despite previously being one of the first names on the teamsheet under Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Antonio Conte.
besissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are now ahead of Hojbjerg in the midfield hierarchy, but once Rodrigo Bentancur returns from his long-term injury, things could get much tougher for Hojbjerg. This season, he has yet to begin a Premier League match for Spurs, but that could soon change.
The midfielder has stated that he would continue to put in a lot of effort on the training field at Hotspur Way in an effort to reclaim his starting position.
When asked if he had gotten an explanation for losing his spot, Hojbjerg responded, “I don’t have that dialogue, to be honest,” as quoted by Sport Witness via Ekstra Bladet. “My strategy is to keep the attention on the things I can control. If I am called upon, I must be prepared to assist the team. I therefore take care to train hard and maintain my course.
This season, Tottenham has received a lot of praise, and Hojbjerg has said that the club is “making really good progress” under Postecoglou’s leadership.
He continued, “We are playing a different kind of football than we did last season, and we have a new coaching team. Things function quite well. Even though the season has only just begun, we are already in a really strong position and moving forward extremely well.
So, staying up is everything. Although I haven’t played as often as I used to, it’s still something you have to accept and take lessons from.
