Brentford worries that they will lose Ivan Toney to Tottenham or one of the other Englishman’s admirers in January, but the West London team is ready for that possibility.
According to Football Insider, Toney is anticipated to quit the team in January after he is cleared to play after serving a lengthy suspension for breaking the FA’s gambling laws.
After a fantastic season in which he managed 21 goals and five assists across 35 games in all competitions, including a best-ever return of 20 strikes in the Premier League, the England striker believes he is ready to take the next step in his career.
As they seek to replace him, Tottenham is one team prepared to make a move for the Brentford player.
If Toney leaves, the article claims that Brentford would make a move for Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart, who has been in outstanding form this German season. The sensation from Guinea has scored 13 goals in his first seven Bundesliga games, five more than Harry Kane of Bayern Munich.
It might be difficult for Brentford to entice him away in the middle of the campaign, but if the London club can secure a high price for Toney, they might use that to entice Stuttgart to the bargaining table.
Why not buy him now rather than during the window in January. He won’t be able to play until the new year, but he will still be at the practice fields getting to know the other players.
Officially, I cannot do it “now,” but I support the notion of firmly setting the foundation or concluding the agreement on the qt and making it public in January.
