Today, Instagram delivered some welcome news to Newcastle United supporters.
Due to the injury of star center-back Sven Botman, Newcastle has forced to field an improvised defense in recent matches.
While maintaining Dan Burn in the left-back position, Eddie Howe reinserted Jamaal Lascelles into the starting lineup opposite Fabian Schar. Like Sven Botman, Burn joined Newcastle as a left-sided center-back, therefore many supporters anticipated that he would return to that position and that Matt Targett or Lewis Hall would enter the starting lineup instead.
To be fair to Howe and Lascelles, it has worked pretty well. Newcastle’s form has continued with wins over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Manchester City in the Carabao Cup, as well as a Premier League win and a draw against Burnley and West Ham, respectively, all with the new-look defense. When that wasn’t the case, Howe turned to his club captain to join the team.
However, Sven Botman just posted a clip on Instagram with the caption: “I’m coming back.”
The Rolls Royce Sven Botman will soon be back in the running for a spot in the starting XI, regardless of how well Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar have performed, especially with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, and Arsenal on the horizon.
