Sheffield Wednesday have a new manager, and it will come as no surprise to any Owl who’s been paying attention that his name is Danny Röhl.
The Star reported on Thursday night that Wednesday had secured their man, with his transfer being finalized after he landed in Sheffield earlier that day. The sale was not subject to international clearance, it was added on Friday morning.
That permission has finally been given, and the Owls have confirmed that the 34-year-old will take over as manager; he will be unveiled at Hillsborough this afternoon.
A statement from the club read, “Sheffield Wednesday are delighted to announce the appointment of Danny Röhl as our new manager. The renowned German coach takes over as Owls boss with immediate effect, with an impressive career in his locker to date.
The 34-year-old has previously worked as an assistant manager for European powerhouses Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Southampton, and the German national side. Röhl’s illustrious coaching career has finally led to his first managing position in S6. Danny, welcome to Wednesday!”
Röhl will make his debut for the Owls against Watford next weekend.
