Erik ten Hag confirms Man Utd defender is set to miss Brentford clash
Due to the absence of all three left-backs for the match against Brentford, Sofyan Amrabat might have to stay in defense.
Sergio Reguilon won’t be able to play for Manchester United against Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday, according to Erik ten Hag.
The Spaniard missed the previous three games due to a slight injury, but it was anticipated he would be available at left-back when the Bees came to town this weekend. Reguilon has not recovered from the injury in time, Ten Hag announced during Friday’s pre-game press conference.
Due to the injuries to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, Sofyan Amrabat will likely fill in on the left side of a back four once more. The midfielder has played in that position for the past three games, but he hasn’t stood out. On Tuesday night, he contributed to Galatasaray’s third goal.
The United manager added that Antony is prepared to start this weekend. After taking a temporary hiatus from first-team activities due to charges of domestic abuse made against the player, the Brazilian joined the club again in the middle of the week. Since the police have not filed any charges against Antony, it was determined on Monday that he is once again eligible for selection. Antony has consistently refuted the accusations.
Ten Hag stated that Antony might be a candidate to start out wide against Brentford after he came off the bench in the closing minutes of the midweek Champions League match. Ten Hag began Bruno Fernandes in place of the injured Jadon Sancho in the middle of last week; he won’t likely do so against Brentford.
Amad, Lisandro Martinez, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are also out this weekend, and it’s unclear if Kobbie Mainoo will play on Saturday.
Ben Mee, Shandon Baptiste, and Jay Dasilva are still out with injuries, and Brentford manager Thomas Frank stated in his pre-game news conference that he will still be missing seven players for the trip to Old Trafford, including the suspended Ivan Toney.
