Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has confirmed he will make a late decision on summer signing Sam Byram for Wednesday’s clash against QPR.
On Wednesday, October 4, the Whites and Queens Park Rangers will square off at Elland Road with both teams hoping to rebound from weekend losses. Farke’s team is looking to start their promotion campaign after suffering a loss to Southampton on Saturday.
Additionally, he expressed concern about the frequent games for the former Norwich City full-back who returned to the squad after an injury and will make a late decision on his fitness during his press conference on October 3 ahead of the game.
Farke also stated that Junior Firpo, Willy Gnonto, and Djed Spence are all making good progress but won’t be ready to train until after the forthcoming international break. Veteran Stuart Dallas has returned to some one-on-one work but is soon to resume full training.
Grab winning mentality back
In all respect, Saturday’s loss against Southampton was not only a catastrophe for Farke’s club but also a major shock considering how both teams were playing prior to that match.
The Leeds United manager and his team appeared to be unprepared for the match and not at all keen to compete as Russell Martin pulled off an incredible tactical surprise.
The German will not want to go through that again, and Wednesday’s game against QPR offers the Whites an instant opportunity for atonement as they seek to recapture that winning sensation.
It won’t come as a surprise to see Farke make some defensive substitutions for Wednesday’s match against Leeds, who had a remarkable four-game sequence of clean sheets prior to the game. However, the performance and the three points, regardless of who starts, will be of utmost importance.
Although QPR aren’t playing well right now, Leeds United shouldn’t become comfortable in the face of this.
A victory on Wednesday will give them the push they need before the international break the following week to get over their defeat on Saturday. Following that, Farke will have a remarkably skilled and deep group to choose from.
