It was Monday Night Raw featuring GUNTHER-Tommaso Ciampa for the Intercontinental Title, a frustrated Drew McIntyre and plenty more.
Michael Cole and Wade Barrett provided the commentary for this week’s Raw, which was held at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. This past Saturday, October 7, was the final Raw before WWE Fastlane.
Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler got into a fight in the backstage area of Raw, which then spilled out into the ring. Returning, Raquel Rodriguez pursued Jax as well. Rhea Ripley, the reigning women’s world champion, made a comeback to pursue Jax as well. Security intervened to break things up, but Ripley gave one of them a Riptide smash.
In place of Finn Balor, who was absent this week, Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio entered the ring after Rhea Ripley’s promo announcing “Mami”‘s return and calling out The Judgment Day. In light of Finn’s injury and Priest’s continued non-clearance this week, Ripley claimed Priest let her down. He has his title and Money in the Bank bag, Priest said, but what about Dominik? Dominik was informed by Ripley that he had a rematch at NXT and was given the ultimatum to either win the NXT North American Title or not bother returning home at all.
Rhea Ripley was acting like the Tribal Chief, according to Jey Uso, who also said that she had larger balls than Roman Reigns when he stopped the promo. Dominik promised to handle it. To assist Dominik, JD McDonagh arrived. While Priest was down on the ground, Cody rescued Jey from the double team attack. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso will compete for the WWE Tag Team Titles against Damian Priest and Finn Balor at WWE Fastlane, according to Adam Pearce, a WWE official.
A contract for an Intercontinental Title fight was signed by Tommaso Ciampa and GUNTHER, the Intercontinental Champion. It was scheduled for next week, but they changed their minds and opted to air it on Raw instead.
Match 3: Ivar was beaten by Xavier Woods by pinfall. Woods triumphed with a modest effort.
Ivar beat up both New Day members, Woods and Kofi Kingston, after the match. Ivar executed a moonsault onto both men from the top.
Michael Cole questioned Seth “Freakin” Rollins, the world heavyweight champion, about how he plans to triumph at Fastlane. Rollins received a backbreaker through a chair from Shinsuke Nakamura as a result of a careless attack. After landing a Kinshasa knee strike, Nakamura began counting to ten. It served as a sneak peek into what can occur in the Fastlane Last Man Standing Match.
Following the match, Kaiser & Vinci of the Imperium trampled Ciampa while GUNTHER retired to the rear. After being absent for several months, Johnny Gargano came back and saved Ciampa. The reunited Gargano and Ciampa swept everything up. They didn’t attack Vinci in a double team before the show concluded. The video of Gargano and Ciampa performing the Meet in the Middle (superkick/knee) combo was posted on the WWE’s X/Twitter account.
