On Thursday night, a loanee of Leeds United played in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
On-loan In Thursday night’s 2-1 victory over Aberdeen in the UEFA Europa Conference League, Eintracht Frankfurt forward Robin Koch of Leeds United scored his team’s first goal since March 2020.
After 11 minutes, Omar Marmoush scored a penalty to give the German team the lead, but after 22 minutes, Aberdeen answered by Dante Polvara.
Koch rose highest from a corner just over an hour into the game and glanced a header past Kelle Roos in the opposing goal. The defense hadn’t scored since March 2020, thus it was significant.
That occurred during a 3-1 Bundesliga victory for SC Freiburg over Union Berlin, with him scoring the game’s final goal for the home team.
Koch joined the club in 2020 from SC Freiburg and spent three years there. Despite making 77 appearances for Leeds throughout the course of the Whites’ three-year Premier League tenure, he never scored a goal for the team.
As things stand, the defender is in the final year of his Elland Road contract and is expected to depart the club permanently at the end of the current campaign after leaving on loan during the summer.
Following the club’s relegation from the Premier League previous season, a number of players moved on loan, including Koch as well as Diego Llorente, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Brenden Aaronson, Max Wober, Jack Harrison, Sam Greenwood, Cody Drameh, Luis Sinisterra, and Sonny Perkins.
Koch is reportedly already being “considered” by Eintracht Frankfurt for a long-term contract, according to publications in Germany. According to reports, the Whites have already received £430,000 as compensation for Koch’s one-season loan to Germany.
The 27-year-old, a Germany international with eight caps to his name, has impressed for the Bundesliga team, and after his contract with Leeds expires, they may be able to sign him on a free transfer.
