Season debut for the Golden State Warriors was quite terrible.
It’s bad enough when two players fight, but it’s even worse when it’s two key players from your championship squad.
It was also concerning because one of the experienced leaders—those who were supposed to know better—had a prominent role in the altercation.
Looking back now, Damian Lillard appears to think Jordan Poole may have seriously exceeded the line.
Draymond Green isn’t the type of person to just snap at a teammate like that, so there had to be a lot of words exchanged there, according to his most recent appearance on the It Is What It Is podcast.
Lillard said he didn’t approve of what happened and that he wished Green hadn’t done it, but it seemed like he was blaming Poole.
There have been numerous accounts of Poole frequently stepping over the line and yelling in the veterans’ faces. There is a significant difference between attempting to establish oneself, being self-assured, and acting disrespectfully.
Throughout the entire season, Poole’s immaturity was clear.
He repeatedly ignored his veterans throughout the season, especially during the playoffs, and refused to be held responsible or coached.
Green’s response was undoubtedly inappropriate, and it already didomed their season.
But now that Poole is most likely not going to win many basketball games in the near future, he may be in for a harsh reality check.
