During their time together at Borussia Dortmund, it is said that Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, was tasked with taking care of Jadon Sancho, a winger for Manchester United.
At Dortmund, the two worked well together, but it’s fair to say that their careers have taken very different turns afterwards. Sancho had a disastrous season at Manchester United, while Haaland has been outstanding for Man City, helping them win the treble last year.
The Athletic reports that Dortmund had some reservations about Sancho and hoped that playing with Haaland would allow his excellent habits to rub off on him. It is apparent that the Norway international is a fantastic professional in addition to being a terrific player.
The story also cites people from Dortmund who call Sancho “childish” and someone who would be difficult to deal with.
Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho, and Erling
Given that Sancho is currently in the news following a confrontation with Erik ten Hag in public, reading this won’t exactly be reassuring for United supporters.
In response to Ten Hag’s criticism of his training, the England international recently erased a social media post. However, it appears that his issues have actually been ongoing for a number of years.
According to the Athletic report, Dortmund obviously believed that more effort was required to bring out the best in Sancho, and it’s interesting to note that Haaland played a role in that.
