According to rumors from the Spanish website Mundo Deportivo, Bruno Guimaraes is now being pursued by Real Madrid, increasing the fight between Liverpool and Chelsea for his services.
In recent weeks, speculations have suggested that Liverpool and Chelsea were interested in signing the 25-year-old Guimaraes during the summer transfer season.
The report claims Real Madrid will now compete with the Premier League heavyweights for the midfielder whether it is in January or next summer.
Newcastle, though, is keen to guarantee the South American’s long-term future and does not want to lose him. The Magpies want to extend the Brazilian’s current contract, which is slated to expire in the summer of 2026.
In January 2022, Guimaraes made a transfer from Olympique Lyon to Newcastle. Over the past few transfer windows, they have been able to attract some top players thanks to the injection of cash following the Tyneside team’s purchase.
Guimaraes, however, has undoubtedly been the most effective player for Newcastle. Under Eddie Howe, the midfielder has been essential to their success. After placing fourth in the Premier League last year, they are expected to play in the Champions League once more.
So it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the Magpies demanded a huge sum of money to part ways with Guimaraes. Howe’s team is reportedly seeking at least £100 million. Who could fault the Tyneside company for making such demands, given the market’s current state?
The revamped midfield for Chelsea and Liverpool
This summer, there was some sort of midfield upheaval at both Liverpool and Chelsea. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were among the players Jurgen Klopp lost. Mauricio Pochettino, on the other hand, has had to rebuild his team from scratch as a result of the loss of important players like N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, and Mateo Kovacic.
But the engine rooms of both teams have seen some significant upgrades. Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister already appear to be excellent additions to Liverpool. Additionally, the Reds completed transfers for Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo.
Over the course of the last two transfer windows, Chelsea made significant financial investments on Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Enzo Fernandez.
However, it is anticipated that both Chelsea and Liverpool will continue to spend money in an effort to catch up to Man City, and Guimaraes would be a fantastic addition to either team if they were able to sign him in the future.
