With more international matches on the horizon, Tottenham injury news has Ange Postecoglou holding his breath about Cristian Romero and James Maddison.
Cristian Romero was photographed working out with Argentina, which allayed Tottenham’s worries that the important center-back had sustained an injury while representing his country. Following his great performance against Ecuador the previous week, Ange Postecoglou plans for his players to return to the club in the near future.
Romero and his new defensive partner Mickey van der Ven have established a solid foundation for Spurs, who have won all four of their Premier League games so far this season. The two have stabilized the team under new management and are yet to commit a foul.
After the 2026 World Cup qualifier, there were reports coming out of South America that Romero had hurt himself. However, those reports were quickly dispelled when Romero was seen working out again in preparation for Bolivia’s upcoming match. Players had to have supplementary oxygen supplied when Brazil played there in 2017, as the game is being played at about 12,000 feet above sea level.
James Maddison has played a crucial role in the work done under Postecoglou. Thanks to his outstanding debut in north London, the 26-year-old has taken off in midfield and won a fourth England cap. Spurs supporters paid close attention to him despite Gareth Southgate’s unconventional choice of him on the left wing for Saturday’s 1-1 draw with England.
The Ukraine defense flagged Maddison as one of the obvious dangers, as is frequently the case at the club level, and he was fouled twice. Due to his significance, there is worry every time he is injured while playing for club and nation, but so far he has avoided injury.
On Tuesday, when the Three Lions play Scotland at Hampden Park, he is scheduled to return to action. Spurs supporters may be hoping that he isn’t engaged in order to maintain his fitness since the game is expected to be highly charged and there is only bragging rights to be earned.

Tottenham is still waiting for Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon, and Bryan Gil to resume playing. The three are Postecoglou’s longer-term absentees, with Bentancur in particular still facing a possible extension of his absence by several months.
Richarlison, who missed Burnley’s 5-2 victory because of a minor injury he sustained in Fulham’s Carabao Cup loss, is back in action for Brazil but isn’t scoring any more goals. When he was pulled off during their 5-1 victory over Bolivia, he was observed sobbing on the bench.
Prior to playing Sheffield United on Saturday, Postecoglou will be hopeful that a healthy and fired-up Richarlison can return to Hotspur Way. There is hope that Bentancur can bring even more depth to the squad when he eventually returns because an already strong midfield is beginning to take shape.
