Stoke City intends to pursue released Newcastle United fan, according to the reporter
Alan Nixon claims that Stoke City is prepared to make a play for Ciaran Clark.
After six years and 129 appearances with the Magpies, Clark, 33, was released by Newcastle United at the end of the previous campaign.
He gradually lost favor with the team and spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, where an injury limited him to just 10 Championship appearances for the Blades.
And now it appears that the 36-cap Republic of Ireland international is set for a return to the Championship with Stoke City as Nixon revealed yesterday that the Potters are prepared to make a bid for Clark. Nixon made the revelation on his Patreon page.
Over the summer, Alex Neil’s team added 18 new players, including a few free agents in Michael Rose, Enda Stevens, and Daniel Johnson.
Stoke to Clark
Despite having Rose and Luke McNally as new center backs, Stoke City still seems eager to add more players and another center back.
Adding another player to the mix doesn’t look like it will help all that much because Neil’s team has had a rough start and it appears like the Potters need some time to get used to their new teammates.
A move to Stoke might be appealing to Clark, an experienced player who is still available as a free agent and who will undoubtedly draw interest now that the transfer season has closed.
But whether it’s game time
